Depiction of the trial of Marie Antoinette, 15 October 1793. Marie Antoinette herself is prominently featured on the right, arm outstretched as she defends herself. Sitting at the table across from her with the feathered hat is Fouquier-Tinville, chief prosecutor of the Revolutionary Tribunal; beside the proescutor, sitting prominently in the left with documents in hand is the ultra-radical journalist Jacques-René Hébert, the leading voice in the call for the queen's execution.
