Purchase options and add-ons
Why is the persecuted church (beaten, tortured, imprisoned, and murdered) the deepest and fastest growing church in the world?
Answer that question and you will understand so much of what the Lord is trying to do in this painful and confusing thing we call life.
In Last Words of the Martyrs, we delve into the final words uttered by our brave brothers and sisters who stayed with their faith in God despite persecution.
Persecuted Christians suffer terribly for their faith in Christ and yet they are the most devoted followers of Jesus in the world. The lessons they teach us about faith, suffering, and true devotion are life changing. While you think their message would be about death, their message is all about life. The life you desperately desire.
In this book, you will learn:
- To really live you have to die
- Pain and suffering are merely a door to pass through to a transformed life.
- There is no life in what the world calls treasure. True treasure can only be discovered through pain, suffering, and neediness.
- It’s imperative that you have a true north star in your life. Without it, you will be lost. The persecuted show you that north star.
- Our greatest problem isn’t our sin. It’s that the Lord can’t get into or out of us.
This book is for devout Christians who are looking to get deep with Our Lord and Savior. Filled with insight and words of wisdom from the past, this shows that with our faith, anything is possible. Find out more by reading this book!

I wept at the inhumanity of man as he related the sorrows caused by the proliferation of evil in the world that can fight against those who love and are devoted to the god of love, their Savior Jesus Christ.
He reminds us of the friends of Daniel who were thrown into the fiery furnace, where they met the Son of God. Many have been thrown into their own fiery furnace, the refiner’s fire. I know that I have had experience with that myself.
Throughout this book, the faith of those martyred for their love of God and of Christ brings a depth of conviction and strength to this reader. It makes me evaluate the strength of my own faith and whether or not I could cast my eyes to heaven in the midst of such persecution.
The author reminds us that our hearts are often set upon our treasures. We must decide what is of greatest worth. “When Jesus becomes the real treasure in the heart of a believer, they have chosen the life of a martyr.”
Mr. King reminds me that we do sacrifice for those we love fully and following Christ is not a passive activity. As I was told once by a friend of mine, she would love to have the spiritual experiences that I have had, but would not want to go through what I have to get them. It is not an easy path, but it is definitely the most rewarding. Our reward is not in this life, but in the life to come.
This book is highly recommended for all who wonder what true faith and devotion is. It is well written and filled with many examples of Christian martyrs of our days told from the point of view of one who understands their sacrifice.
Having read the Introduction, several stories, and the two final chapters, I find myself reconsidering my views about Jesus and Christianity. There is a crack in my armor.
This quote from the book rings true and sums up the message I hear from Jeff King’s well-written, thought-provoking book:
“. . .the core message is God will visit us with deep suffering to lead us to spiritual growth.”
Ultimately, he shares many stories of the devoted in the eastern world and their persecution for seeking and sharing about Christianity (spreading the word of Christ Jesus), and then uses the similarities between East and West to make a case for returning to God’s grace through that same devotion.
I agree that many Westerners are spiritually lost. The message this book shares could be the turning point to salvation.
I recommend it as food for thought, though it may be difficult to read., keeping an open mind, as I did, with the possibility of seeing the world in a different light.
The author takes the reader on a journey, lead further and further down a spiritual path, where with each passing martyr that he meets, unfolds more and more clearly not only the purpose and reason for the martyrs willingness to die, but also their purpose and reason for living.
Through accounts at once both inspiring and staggeringly tragic, the stories of courageous Christian believers are retold, many of whom the author himself had met. Their lives are authentically shared, in all their strength as well as weakness. Even in the midst of their courage and sacrifice of life, they are shown to have suffered from the same fears, anxieties and spiritual struggles we all do. It paints a very honest picture of how the Christian can exercise, and live out a bold and daring faith, while simultaneously struggling with all the normal human weakness.
1 Corinthians 2 1
“I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling…”
GK Chesterton once wrote “A martyr is someone who cares so much for something outside themself, that they forget their own personal life.”
This book sheds light on what precisely that is the martyr cares so much about.
