GADE TÈT OU by Marie Flore Lindor-Latortue, PhD, is a book that profiled the intellectual discipline of the author, where the reader is expected to be captivated all along the way by her simple, yet colorful style. GADE TÈT OU invites you to see beyond the contrasted images of life that often limit one in accessing complex situations objectively. I commend Dr. Lindor-Latortue for her ability to bring to light her experience as rational solutions to others every day’s challenges.Dr. Lindor-Latortue addresses issues that relate to prejudices, stereotypes, and myths. She analyzes them with an approach of logic coherence. Her book, in lieu of an autobiography, is presented as an essay where anyone can fit or relate, keeping optimism at its best and a real perspective...Professor Anthony Georges Pierre, Author, Historian.

I belong to a book club where we agreed to read “Gade Tet Ou”, an autobiography of an accomplished Haitian woman who navigated her way towards entrepreneurship in America. Dr. Marie-Flore Lindor-Latortue (Dr. Flore) uses the Haitian expression, “Get Tet Ou” that means “Watch out—Look at yourself” as the framework for making positive life decisions. She explains the theory of Get Tet Ou in the four basic areas: health, education, finance, and relationship where she covers faith, friendship, family, marriage leadership, and community.Dr. Flore touches on past and present issues where her Get Tet Ou theory can be applied to induce a better quality of life. She does this beginning with the basic stages in life: childhood, adolescence, and young adult—sharing how she applied these theories into her own life. This book is for anyone who is looking for an alternative way of finding peace within oneself, paving a road to success and independence and self-satisfaction.

Dr. Flore’s book, Gade Tet Ou, is a page-turner filled with a great deal of valuable advice for life’s paths. It is written in a format that is part self-help and auto-biography as it covers all the ways that her “Gade Twet Ou” concept applies to all aspects of life from childhood through adulthood, schooling to working to entrepreneurship; relationships of all sorts; Haitian culture and politics; and life in general. She places herself as the example of how it all works and how she came up with it through her life experiences – both the good ones and the challenges. It discusses and encourages the practice of always taking a step back to pause, think about the moment at hand, do some self-analysis, and then move forward as a stronger person.

The book also brings you into the piece through a relatable manner as it is written in her voice, not tainted by commercialized editing that would come from an editor that changes Dr. Flore’s words to where her intended meaning gets lost. It is written as her entirely, with the messaging conveyed only as she intended. It is a good piece filled with many treasures that you can take through life or provoke thought – no matter what walk of life you come from. This was a very enjoyable read.

Gade Tèt ou “Check Yourself Out” is an easy read packed with soul. Dr. Flore shares her own experiences to prove her philosophy regarding how we should live. As an Emotional & Parenting Expert, I love to read books that stimulate personal growth, not to mention deepen the connection outside of ourselves. Dr. Flore exemplifies this in her book through her multiple roles and she shows how she can be present to each of them and succeed. Her wisdom and passion are evident. This book reminds us to cherish our own journey and provides the tools and reasons to do that.

This is an inspirational book for everyone. This is the journey of a immigrant Black woman at a time when this group is claiming their spots in the USA political scene. This book is timely. This is for the people who do not take no for answer when it comes to their right to the Pursuit of Happiness.
