- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2022This book was great. We followed the outline in the book as we went around the Chichen Itza site. We checked off the various structures one by one and learned about them as we went. I'm very glad we visited right at opening time with this book. We saw everything and had the ruins almost to ourselves. As we were leaving, the bus loads of tourists were just arriving.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2022I expected there would be a map of Chichen Itza - a lay out of the different structures in relation to each other but will find out when we get there. Otherwise very, very detail oriented, probably more information than I want or can retain. The author's style of writing took a chapter or two to get used to - probably has something to do with the translation?

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Written, Mostly Worthless Junk
We bought this book to help prepare for a trip to Mexico and a visit to this site. Unfortunately, it is difficult to read due to the outrageously sloppy writing. Grammatical errors, gross errors in sentence structure, pedestrian style, etc. There are examples of sentences, even short paragraphs, that are repeated verbatim a few pages apart (copied and pasted?) I'm wondering if the book was written by a cheap AI program rather than a physical author 🤔 It's frustrating when a description of a given feature of the site is so marred by such shoddy writing that it's basically incomprehensible.
On top of that, the book does not include a single map, diagram, photo or illustration. Nor is there an index, glossary, historical timeline, not even a pronunciation guide. Junk! I made the decision to return it after reading less than ten pages!
