Plutarch (/ˈpluːtɑːrk/; Greek: Πλούταρχος, Ploútarkhos, Koine Greek: [plǔːtarkʰos]; later named, upon becoming a Roman citizen, Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus (Λούκιος Μέστριος Πλούταρχος);[a] c. AD 46 – AD 120) was a Greek historian, biographer and essayist, known primarily for his Parallel Lives and Moralia. He is classified as a Middle Platonist. Plutarch's surviving works are believed to have been originally written in Koine Greek.

Top reviews from the United States

The click-on descriptors for this book are irrelevant. This is a classic for the ages, and while the binding was quite faded (obviously spent time in the sun) for a 75-yr-old volume it was in exquisite condition, the paper fully intact and supple unlike many books from that era. The content, of course I have read before, and is an inspiration to virtue for all mankind forever.

As said above. Highly recommend purchasing from this seller.

A classic! A lot has been written about Plutarch's Lives, so I will not attempt to reiterate what other reviewers have already said (probably better than I would). If you are a serious classicist, this is a must read. Very enjoyable and insightful.

The text is so tightly leaded it is difficult to read. All the great content and insights are there, of course. They need no further reviews. I wish somehow that the text might have been laid out more readably.
