Editorial Reviews

Review

“Well done atlases are invaluable tools for studying history and this volume hits all the right notes, providing not only a wealth of information but a concise and well written narrative, allowing it to stand as its own history of this critical conflict.”
New York Journal of Books

“What a marvelous examination of the American Revolution by wargamers who appreciate two things often lacking in military history books: good maps and OOBs with numbers.”
Historical Miniatures Gaming Society

While I can't verify how well researched every battle is as I myself am not an expert, I can say this has exceeded my expectations and seems like the perfect companion piece to any book on the subject. Lots of art and most importantly clean and concise maps (some might even think a tad spartan) with breakdowns of the different phases of the battles. Even the descriptions themselves seem quite nice and get more detailed than most books on the broader topic. Overall highly recommended and it was a decent price too!

I ordered this book in April of 2021 and it finally got finished. My son loved it.

The nicely drawn maps and battle positions are the obvious attractions of this book. Although there is a description of each engagement, they tend to be short, and unfortunately in some cases, inaccurate. This probably couldn't be helped when trying to cover so many different engagements in a book of reasonable size. They also do a good job of including some lesser-known battles and skirmishes. An excellent reference for wargamers interested in the period. Just be sure to cross-check the numbers.
