Henry Seltzer has a graduate degree in Linguistics and has studied Computer Science, and attended MIT as an undergraduate, but his real study is Astrology and Tarot. Henry's study of Astrology began with an interest in Jungian psychological symbolism in 1975. He was immediately fascinated by how accurately the planetary patterns reflect individual psychological reality. He believes Astrology is a window from the material world into the spiritual. Because Astrology is based on concrete observable phenomena, and yet makes use of this data in an entirely different way, it forms a bridge between the scientific materialistic world view and that of the Artistic, the Esoteric, and the Spiritual.

Henry began to work within this remarkable field of study, and to share his insights with other people, and in 1985 created the computer program that eventually became TimePassages. His goal was to make generally available the information that Astrology can provide. By making it easier for people to explore their own and other people's charts, or "horoscopes", Henry hoped that anyone could gain greater self-knowledge and also that the world-shaking information that Astrology really does work would spread.

This book takes a look at the dwarf planet Eris, from its discovery to application to astrology. He considers the mythology with interpretative views of the archetype and how this information can be utilized while looking at charts.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It accomplishes what I consider to be ideal when I’m reading a book about astrology. The author looks at the topic, in this case Eris, develops a working thesis(interpretation) and goes on to show examples on how thIs data fits the original thesis. In so doing, the reader is provided with information they can test out for themselves, but more importantly, for me at least, is leave you with an interest and curiosity to reflect upon for yourself.

I can also add that his interpretations for house and aspects all match my own chart but also that as reading I saw the concepts through lived experience come to life.

Some may claim he used far too many charts, perhaps even claiming they are just filler. However, each chart provided illustrates his original interpretations but also offer aspect relationships etc..each either reaffirming the thesis but also adding a variety of shades that only add to the reader’s understanding, and as mentioned earlier, offers starting blocks for the reader’s imagination to think of myriad possibilities of application.

Final point is that the author wrote this expecting the reader have working knowledge of astrological concepts and vocabulary. If the reader doesn’t have this they’ll certainly feel a bit lost. However with this background the reader will find the book is a fast and very easy and enjoyable read.

Well researched and well written with excellent examples of how this new planet can be incorporated into the birth chart. An ephemeris showing the Eris periods of retrogradation would be most helpful, and in fact, some interpreting of this condition. The interesting thing about this new planet is that it entered the sign of Aries in the 1920s, and is now only around the 24th degree of that sign, so very slow moving as it was discovered while at its farthest from the Sun in its orbit.
I highly recommend this book.

This is a brilliant book on this recently discovered planet. Henry Seltzer has really got to the core and backs up his insights with very strong examples.I found the literary examples - Herman Melville, D H Lawrence and William Blake - particularly convincing, and his analysis of Eris in relation to C G Jung and the period leading up to the break with Freud and the First World War was compelling. It's prompted me to take a more serious look at Eris and do my own astrological research on this planet, which seems to be deeper and darker than Pluto.
