It is quite rare to find an author who is good at both writing and world building, but to also then be good at writing fleshed out in depth characters is an exceedingly rare find. Willow manages to secure all three with ease. I was captivated, entranced and completely pulled into the story line. With plot twists and character arcs and interesting alien forms and tech, with just enough creepy to give it an edge without being completely repulsed. I loved reading this and can't wait to read the other two in the series. I laughed and I cried and I agonized and cheered on the characters. I would absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend this book.

The story is well-written, with great elements of sci-fi and horror.

I loved this book so much. I'll admit that it took me a second to get into, there are a lot of characters and a lot of things going on, but that said every single character has a backstory, a reason for being on the planet and a reason for needing to survive it. I found myself punched in the gut everytime someone's story was cut off, and really rooting for all of my favorites to make it. Birdy by far became my favorite character. Her struggle and her determination, and her BRAIN make her so incredibly wonderful to me. I was eager every single time we got to one of her parts in the book. And particularly her conflict with one of the male characters who is literally a scumbag that somehow Willow made interesting, heartfelt, and engaging despite being an absolute trashbag haha

And then there is just Willow's prose in general. I've read a lot of Willow's writing, and her prose is always beautiful and evocative, but there are scenes in this book that stand out as shining moments for me. There's a scene where one of the characters takes a swim for the first time in her life and it was so beautiful for me. I can't even adequately explain how touched I was by that one scene, let alone the myriad of others that ranged from beautiful to horrific and terrifying.

Anyway, this is all just a long, rambling way of saying that I really, really liked this book and think it was awesome. Willow's prose is beautiful, and the story she tells is fulfilling and interesting. absolute 5 stars from me.

This is such an incredible blend of sci-fi, beauty, revenge, love and mystery. I was so intrigued by Leto, an amazing planet with life forms completely it’s own and the technology created by the author in this futuristic, post-apocalyptic world. Humans and climate changes have depleted Earth’s resources, especially water, and Leto seems to hold the keys. This book very much was reminiscent of Michael Crichton’s “Sphere” for me. Buy it! It’s worth the read.

This book has it all—cyberpunk badass chicks, evil androids, corporate espionage, and aliens. If you ever wanted to sit down with a book and see a movie in your head, THIS is that book. Fast-paced, fun, and the characters are awesome.
