And then there is just Willow's prose in general. I've read a lot of Willow's writing, and her prose is always beautiful and evocative, but there are scenes in this book that stand out as shining moments for me. There's a scene where one of the characters takes a swim for the first time in her life and it was so beautiful for me. I can't even adequately explain how touched I was by that one scene, let alone the myriad of others that ranged from beautiful to horrific and terrifying.
Anyway, this is all just a long, rambling way of saying that I really, really liked this book and think it was awesome. Willow's prose is beautiful, and the story she tells is fulfilling and interesting. absolute 5 stars from me.
