About the Author

Joan Holub has authored and/or illustrated over 140 children’s books, including the Goddess Girls series, the Heroes in Training series, the New York Times bestselling picture book Mighty Dads (illustrated by James Dean), and Little Red Writing (illustrated by Melissa Sweet). We have been enjoying this series quite a bit. Action, adventure, group and sibling dynamics... it has it "all". Typhon was quite the icky creature of chaos, but it was fun to see a combination of Jack and the Beanstalk and Greek/Roman mythology. My 7 1/2 year old loved it and is eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

(We started this series when my son was six. I have also given these books to his 11 month younger cousins - they devoured the first four with-in a few days of Christmas receipt. The books work well both as books to read a load or for the kids to read to themselves. My experience is with boys, and I think they are the primary target, but I like the books too, as does my sister, so I think young girls would too.)
