This book gives great summary for each eastern religion. As a Buddhist I can tell you Buddhism is a large piece of philosophy and practice. There are so many sutras that it is extremely hard to grasp a comprehensive understanding at least for me. I can tell you this book gives great summary of Buddhism as I understood. I'm not sure what would the enlightened people say about his summary , at least for me, this book is a great help.

I finished a whole semester studying easter philosophy. I can tell you for the Buddhism part in this book is very well researched and I strongly recommend every one reading it.

This book is certainly not a comprehensive item, but for those relatively new to Asian thought, it's a great start. As a matter-of-fact, it acknowledges this expected shortfall by providing suggested reading to expand on ideas presented in the book. It very directly presents and addresses key points and concepts within each of the major systems. I highly recommend this book for anyone that wants a little insight and a basic starting point towards understanding our Asian counterparts.

This was a required textbook for one of my college courses. It proved to be informative and interesting, but is certainly set up in textbook style.

This review is specifically about the quality of the text book. It is cheaply done. The pages are thin and a mousy white color. It is possible to see the previous page text and diagrams on the page you are viewing. This is because the pages are so thin, the text of the previous page easily shows through. As you can imagine it is distracting. The price of the new text is over 80.00. It is very overpriced for the physical quality of the book. Buy it used , if you can. I was terribly disappointed.

Having heavily criticized the cheap quality of the book, the book is one of the best books on Eastern Philosophy available for undergraduate level students.
